Our Story

The HD Hitch Support was developed out of the need to use an artificial high directional (multi-pod) for over the bank rescues along Highway 101 and Highway 175 in Mendocino County, California.

The Hopland Fire Protection District frequently responds to calls for vehicles over-the-edge along 100 miles of steep terrain bordering these highways and local roadways.

Multi-pods routinely need guy lines or independent foot anchors to stabilize their placement while counteracting the force vectors created by rope systems. Often, appropriate anchors able to support rigging are not available on scene.

Ron Roysum, Hopland Fire Battalion Chief and CEO of Rescue Solutions LLC set out to develop a portable, artificial anchor system that could be transported with responding rescue units, set up quickly and be simple to operate.

This anchor would directly support and secure the rear leg of a classic multi-pod configuration thereby providing a faster set-up and add stability to the rescue system.

The first two prototype HD Hitch Supports were welded steel with a fixed foot support. After five revisions, the Hitch Support is now stronger, lighter and more versatile. To maintain quality control, the 6061 aircraft aluminum parts are CNC machined and anodized locally. The HDHS is patent pending #16666922.
